Dress Code/What to Wear

Although June is considered a summer month in Aspen, temperatures can vary from 70° F (20° C) during the day to a much cooler 40° F/4° C in the evening. The town does get an occasional shower or thunderstorm that passes through quickly. Delegates attending the Summit are invited to dress in smart, casual clothing.  Let comfort be your guide in Aspen, as it is customary to do a bit of walking around town and the campus of the Aspen Institute is spread out.  Feel free to skip the jacket and/or tie for Summit meetings, and you are welcome to dress up a bit for evening events. When we head up to the top of Aspen Mountain (elevation 11,212 feet) on Tuesday evening, you'll want to bring a jacket with you as the temperatures will be 8-10 degrees cooler atop Aspen Mountain versus the temperature in town.

Denim works for almost any venue in Aspen – whether paired with a rhinestone blouse for the ladies, or worn with a jacket during the day.  (Denim and tuxedo jackets are a regular part of the “Aspen Black Tie” scene – but don’t worry, you won’t need that!)  A sweater or jacket will keep you warm when the sun goes down.  Pack shoes for walking, hiking, tennis or running, as well as an outfit or two for an early morning hike.  Oh, and don't forget your boots!
